Introduction: Boron is one of the seven micronutrients necessary for plant growth and development.
Boron is not a component of various organic substances in crops, but it can strengthen some important
physiological functions of crops. Boron supply is sufficient, plants grow luxuriantly, seeds are full,
roots are good, and harvest is guaranteed; On the contrary, the supply of boron was insufficient,
the plant grew poorly, and the quality and yield of products decreased; In case of serious boron
deficiency, there is even no harvest.
Boron has three major effects on crop physiological processes:
One is the promoting effect. Boron can promote the operation of carbohydrates. The boron content in plants
is appropriate, which can improve the organic matter supply of various organs of crops, make crops
grow normally, and improve seed setting rate and fruit setting rate.
Second, boron has a special effect on the fertilization process. Its content in pollen is the most in stigma
and ovary, which can stimulate pollen germination and pollen tube elongation, so that pollination can proceed
smoothly. When crops lack boron, anthers and filaments shrink, and pollen cannot form, showing the
disease of “flower but not solid”.
The third is regulation. Boron can regulate the formation and operation of organic acids in plants.
Under boron deficiency, organic acids accumulate in roots, cell differentiation and elongation of root tip
meristem are inhibited, corking occurs, and root necrosis is caused. Boron can also enhance the drought
resistance and disease resistance of crops and promote early maturity of crops. In addition, the application
of boron fertilizer in rice hybrid seed production can make the reproductive organ maturity of parent
and female plants tend to be the same, and promote the significant increase of seed production yield;
At the same time, it can also improve the seed setting rate of distant hybrids. It can be seen that
boron can also play an important role in breeding.
As high boron demand cash crops such as rape, cotton, peanut, fruit trees and vegetables, boron deficiency
will seriously affect the normal growth of crops. Boron deficiency has become the main limiting factor
hindering the improvement of crop yield and quality.
According to the test results of domestic soil stations, the application of boron fertilizer on rape, cotton,
peanuts, grapes, fruits, chestnuts, vegetables, legumes and other crops has a significant yield increase effect.
Specifications:

Application method of boron fertilizer
Application of low boron content
For basic application, ditch application or hole application shall be adopted. The dosage of borax
(instant boron: “disodium tetrahydrate octaborate” is recommended) is 0.5-1kg/mu, which shall be
applied during crop sowing and transplanting after being evenly mixed with fine soil, phosphorus
fertilizer or nitrogen fertilizer.
Application of high content of instant boron
It can be sprayed 2-3 times in the seedling stage, bolting stage, bud stage, early flowering stage,
young fruit stage and other growth stages of crops. It can also be mixed with herbicides,
insecticides, fungicides, etc.
Multiple application in advance
Boron has poor mobility in the working object and should be sprayed many times. For example,
cotton should be applied at the bud stage, once every 15 days, 2-3 times continuously. The spraying
effect of fruit at young fruit stage and full flowering stage was good.
Used as base fertilizer
Boron fertilizer (it is recommended to use instant boron: “disodium tetrahydrate octaborate”) can be
used as base fertilizer, and can be applied to the soil before sowing by strip application, ditch application,
spreading and other methods. When used as base fertilizer on fruit trees, 5-10g should be applied to
each tree and mixed with organic fertilizer or nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer
Used as topdressing
When no boron fertilizer is applied to crop base fertilizer, 200g / mu granular boron fertilizer shall be
applied at the later stage of crop seedling (it is recommended to use instant boron: “disodium tetrahydrate octaborate”);
When boron fertilizer is applied to crop base fertilizer, boron fertilizer should be sprayed 1-2 times before flowering,
especially for crops with high boron demand.
